Wiklund vs Wiklund are coming into 2019 swinging!

Updated: May 3, 2019

With no signs of slowing down from their breakout 2018 year, they look forward to the future with eager anticipation!

For musical soul mates Dan & Melody Wiklund - 2018 was a year of hard work, determination and reward. With 50+ shows under their belts for the year alone and touring dates that found them traveling from southern Manitoba to the B.C. interior, this duo blazed their way across western Canada, playing their brand of “rootsy” acoustic rock/country with traces of soul mixed music to accepting and enthusiastic audiences. It was an achievement filled year and the two are proud owners of a busy, yet fulfilling track record.

The Wiklund’s have been active members of a bustling Red Deer music scene for many years in previous band projects and have enjoyed being part of this growing artistic group that see’s no boundaries. Established as a duo act in 2017, the two had spent the better part of 2 years writing and recording their debut album aptly named “LOVE ACHES” and successfully launched the effort on November 10th to a sold-out Red Deer audience. The album wanders gracefully through such topics as love & loss and begs for answers to many relatable life questions and even pokes a little fun at personal and not so personal relationships. Their first video “Deer Hunter”,which can be viewed on their YouTube channel, was released in unison with the album and paints a vivid picture of “small town/country” life and its subsequent community relationships. The end of 2018 was capped off and highlighted with the couple being nominated & awarded the 2018 Red Deer Entertainment Award for Artist/Group of the year.

For all music has given Melody and Dan, one of the biggest rewards has been the opportunity to give back. Through their music they’ve been able to fundraise for a myriad of notable charities throughout the years, such as the Cross Cancer Institute, MS Society, CND Diabetes Society, 49st Youth Centre & the RD SPCA.

2019 is looking bright for the duo! With another album well on its way to completion, story boards for upcoming videos being written and a quickly filling tour itinerary, the two look to the future through enthusiastic yet humble eyes. Music has been good to them and it’s time to give back in the best way they know how. To hit the road, share their stories, meet the people and hopefully help others in only the way music can help. Look for more Western Canadian dates with emphasis on their home province of Manitoba.

Wiklund vs Wiklund will be performing in Winnipeg, MB at Shannon’s Irish Pub – Saturday, April 20th, 2019
